Science Cafe: The Future of Zoos - February 27th

This event has ended Date:

The Future of Zoos

While zoos are meant to entertain and educate the public, they also have a strong emphasis on scientific research and species conservation. Studies have shown that zoos have a meaningful impact on visitors and their enthusiasm to protect wild species and spaces. However, some conservation efforts in zoos, such as captive breeding and release programs, have not been as successful as hoped. How can science help inform the future success of zoo conservation programs? Are changes needed in zoos to develop greater opportunities for visitors to interact with the zoo’s conservation messaging? What will the zoo of the future look like?
